Becoming a Member/Renewing Your Membership

To become a member of Fort Wayne Dancesport, one joins USA Dance, Inc. and receives all the benefits of USA Dance membership.

How to Join or Renew

If you're new to Fort Wayne Dancesport or USA Dance, we recommend that you begin by reading the "Membership Benefits" and "Membership Categories and Dues" sections below. If you already know about the benefits and what categorey to join, use the online membership application (specify "Fort Wayne" when asked to which chapter you wish to be affiliated) or download, print and complete the membership application (requires Adobe Reader) and mail it with your check or money order to the address on the form. Alternatively, join in person at any Fort Wayne Dancesport event, or contact our chapter officers directly.

Membership Benefits

All Members

  • Save money! Your membership provides discounts on admission to fabulous but affordable chapter social dances (including dances put on by other USA Dance chapters around the country). They include dance lessons and lots of social dancing, as well as line dances, mixers, dance demonstrations and other fun activities. Do the math! An adult "social dancer" need only attend five of our chapter's 12 monthly dances for his or her membership to pay for itself!
  • Local dance information from our chapter via email, newsletters, etc.
  • Affordable group coaching sessions.
  • Supporting the only dance organization in the United States recognized by the International DanceSport Federation (IDSF), and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) as the National Governing Body for DanceSport.
  • Opportunities to help others by involvement in our outreach programs, which bring the physical, mental and social benefits of ballroom dancing to the aged, the young, the handicapped, and to the general public.
  • Free subscription to American Dancer, the USA Dance national, bimonthly news magazine and free Dancemart classified advertising in American Dancer magazine.

Dancesport Athlete Members

  • All of the benefits above, plus eligibility to dance in competitions sanctioned by USA Dance, including team and formation contests.

Membership Categories and Dues

Recreational Dancers

  • Social Ballroom Dancer: Dances for enjoyment and works to improve but does not compete. May include retired Dancesport athlete. Dues: $35/year.
  • Social Adult Dancer: Enjoys and appreciates the physical, mental, and social benefits of social dancing. (Same benefits as Social Ballroom Dancer). Dues: $25/year.
  • Social Youth Dancer: A social dancer under the age of 19. Often a family member or friend of adult member (does not receive American Dancer magazine).  Dues: $10/year.
  • Social Dance Teacher: An individual who is engaged in the teaching of social dance. Dues: $50/year.

Dancesport Athletes

Dancesport Athletes receive the same benefits as Recreational Dancers plus eligibility to compete in USA Dance-sanctioned competitions.
  • Adult DanceSport Athlete: A competitive dancer who is age 19 or above. Dues: $60/year.
  • Student DanceSport Athlete: A competitive dancer who is age of 19 or above but below age 35 and is enrolled in school full time. Dues: $20/year.
  • Minor DanceSport Athlete: A competitive dancer who is below the age of 19. Dues: $15/year.
  • Professional Athlete: A competitive dancer who declares him or herself as a professional or dances as a professional in competition. Dues: $65/year.
  • Special Olympics Athlete: Qualifies for participating in Special Olympics competitions only. Dues: $10/year.
  • Unified Sports ® Partner: Dance Partner of Special Olympics Athlete -for participating in Special Olympics only. Dues: $25/year.

Other Individual and Organizational Members

  • Dancesport Professional: An individual who serves in an official capacity in the field of DanceSport and/or ballroom dance, i.e. judge, emcee, music director, invigilator, organizer, chairperson of judges, IDSF adjudicator etc. Dues: $70/year.
  • Dance Industry: Retail Organization: An organization, individual or business offering products and/or services of interest to dancers. Retail organizations may be listed on USA Dance web site and in American Dancer magazine. Print the name of your company in the space below. See information about this advertising option, including a separate application form that provides more details on how this program works on our national organization website at www.usadance.org under Dance Industry Organizations. Dues: $100/year.
